Problem: LinkedIn and Naukri recommend many jobs that do not match a person's skills, salary, or experience. People waste time and applications on them.
The extension scores each job against the user's profile before it fills and submits the form.
The rule scorer checks skill overlap (with skill aliases, for example React implies JavaScript), role family, and seniority distance.
Hard gates: offered salary must be at least the expected CTC, required experience must be at most my experience plus 2 years, and at least 2 skills must match.
An optional AI scorer uses the user's own Gemini, OpenAI, or Claude key.
It answers screening questions from the stored profile, and uses the AI key for open questions.
It uses daily caps, random 3 to 8 second delays, and allow and block lists.
Decisions and why
- All data and API keys stay in chrome.storage.local.
- Paid tools send resumes to their servers. Keeping data local is a privacy win and removes the need for a backend.
- Rule-based gates run before any AI call.
- Rules are fast (target under 50 ms per job), free, and predictable. AI is optional on top.
- Rate limits and human-like pacing.
- To stay within platform usage limits instead of spraying applications.
- Page labels are treated as untrusted input in prompts.
- A job page could contain text that tries to steer the model.
Results
- 26 users at the time of writing.
- Early users told me they started getting shortlisted and getting calls because they applied only to matching jobs.
